A FATAL AFFAIR: THE MURDER OF HELEN GRIER

Illustration from the San Antonio (Texas) News

Amanda and I completed our first draft by April 30 (as was the goal) and are currently doing a read through for edits. We’re clocking in at about 50,000 words for the main text, which was our objective. Once we’ve completed this round of revisions, we’ll have copies prepared for our beta readers (already selected). Be sure to follow us on social media if you aren’t already. New posts daily and lots of peripheral (but interesting) information that won’t be in the book.

2026 DERRINGER AWARDS

Well, MIDNIGHT SCHEMERS & DAYDREAM BELIEVERS didn’t wing Best Anthology list, but I did receive this fancy FINALIST laurel. One can never have too many laurels (though the one that says “WINNER” is so much nicer!)

To read the official announcement and see who won Best Anthology, as well as al Awards for Best Flash/Short/Long/Novelette Story, click here.

TWELVE YEARS AND COUNTING

It’s hard to believe but July will mark twelve years since publication of my debut novel, The Hanged Man’s Noose. I wrote a bit about my journey this month on The Stiletto Gang.

A LASTING TRIBUTE TO GIBBS

Those of you who have followed me for some time know how heartbroken I was to lose Gibbs, my nine-year-old Golden Retriever, in November 2024 (read my tribute here). My longtime friend, Sharon Wilston (she hosted my very first book launch back in 2015), is an extremely talented (and award-winning) artist. Known for her fabulous florals (oil on canvas), Sharon has started painting small (8 x 10) oil on canvas of dog’s faces. She MUST fall in love with the face before she’ll paint it, and while she does take commissions, she has no website or social media presence. So…If you’re interested, contact me and I’ll send her your information so she may follow up with you.
