A FATAL AFFAIR: THE MURDER OF HELEN GRIER
The research and writing continues on A Fatal Affair: The Murder of Helen Grier. Amanda and I are now posting something new on social media every day, a mixed bag of historic places, people, and, of course, teasers on this very cold case. Find us on Facebook Instagram BlueSky.

We’re also starting to book events for this year, If you’re in the Sault Ste. Marie area — or plan to be — there is a list here.
And now, a bit about the book: On October 28, 1937, 28-year-old Helen Grier’s body was discovered by her married lover, Vernon Spencer, at a hunt camp in Algoma, Ontario. Spencer, a former professional baseball player, was an affluent dairy farmer from Wixom, Michigan. Spencer would immediately be held as a material witness, and later charged with murder. He was found not guilty in a Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, courtroom, in April 1938. Did Spencer get away with murder? Or did someone else fire the fatal bullet? Book Launch: Oct. 28, 2026.

ENZO UPDATE
A new soccer ball to replace the two he “collapsed.” This time I invested in something a bit more durable. Hope springs eternal (and here’s hoping for spring).
