A FATAL AFFAIR: THE MURDER OF HELEN GRIER

The research and writing continues on A Fatal Affair: The Murder of Helen Grier. Amanda and I are now posting something new on social media every day, a mixed bag of historic places, people, and, of course, teasers on this very cold case. Find us on Facebook Instagram  BlueSky.

PS: Including an example of a post we did just for fun.

We’re also starting to book events for this year, If you’re in the Sault Ste. Marie area — or plan to be — there is a list here.

PUBLICATION NEWS

Harvesting carrots in the Holland Marsh.

Two of my short mystery stories have been accepted for publication. “Murder in the Marsh” will appear in the Murderous Ink Press anthology Canadian Chronicles (coming September 2026). All the authors and the settings are Canadian. My story is about a female triathlete cycling in the Holland Marsh. I used to be a triathlete (hated cycling, which is a big part of it) and I often cycled through the marsh when I lived nearby. This photo of a farm in the Holland Marsh is appropriate — I once had a dog jump out of the back of a car and onto my back, while cycling. I still have the scar on the back of my left arm from skidding along the road. Oh, and my story also involves carrots!

“The Last Detail” was selected by Brown Hound Press. A link to the story and a bit of background will be included in my March newsletter.

ENZO UPDATE

It’s been a long winter and I look forward to walking on pavement vs. snow and ice. But Enzo loves winter so I try to take joy from his joy.

He really likes pushing a soccer ball down the snow mound and “sledding” after it.
