Sharing is Caring
It’s the holiday season, and in that spirit I’m sharing book release news from three of my favourite Canadian authors. Because books make great gifts, but mostly because sharing is caring. Find them at your favourite bookseller.
Hippie Mermaid by Joanne Guidoccio: On Christmas Eve, psychic Kendra Adams reveals the secret she’s hidden for decades—she was once Rosina, a mermaid torn between sea and shore. Betrayed in her ocean kingdom and desperate to escape banishment, she persuades a politician to smuggle her into the human world. But freedom on land comes at a cost, as she soon finds herself ensnared in another web, this one spun by the politician’s power-hungry sister.
Christmas in Newfoundland 3: Sgt. Windflower Holiday Tales by Mike Martin: Christmas is a time to celebrate but it is also a time to reminisce and remember. Celebrate Christmas in Newfoundland with the bestselling Sgt. Windflower Mysteries.
On the Lam: Great (and Not So Great) Escapes from Prison by Lorna Poplak: Fascinating stories of the age-old tug-of-war between prisons struggling to keep inmates inside and inmates desperate to get out. Along with probing the origins, structure, and shortcomings of a variety of historic and contemporary correctional institutions, On the Lam brings into sharp focus the attempts — sometimes successful, occasionally deadly — of masterminds, tricksters, scoundrels, and innocents to claw their way to freedom.
Enzo Update
It’s hard to believe, but Enzo celebrated his first birthday on November 21st with a red Kong filled in frozen peanuts-only peanut butter. He has now reached his full weight (61.5 pounds) and height though his head will probably get “blockier,” which is typical for male Golden Retrievers.
Until next month. Thank you for following my journey.
