Are you on Goodreads? If not, I urge you to consider joining. It’s free (gotta love free), there are virtual book clubs you can join and participate in, as well as giveaways. There’s also something called the Goodreads Reading Challenge. I’ve been doing that since 2015 and set a goal for 36 books a year (3/month) though I usually manage to read 40+. That said, I’m 4 books behind my goal this year, but summer is upon us and that’s when I read the most (nothing like sitting by the lake with a good book). Here’s a link to the books I’ve read this year. I rate and review every book I read because as an author, I know how important reviews are (yes, I read every one of my reviews). Here’s a link to my author page, should you be interested in checking some of them out.
As you can see from my reading list, I veer towards mystery/thrillers, with the occasional historical fiction (you can’t go wrong with Kate Quinn), and I’m a massive fan of John Sandford. His latest, Ocean Prey, is one of his best in recent years, and his author’s note at the end is worth the price of admission.
I also enjoy short crime fiction, and Cold Canadian Crime and Crime Wave: Women of a Certain Age are both stellar multi-author collections.
For best debut, I’d recommend Shiver by Allie Reynolds, which takes the reader on a very dark journey into the competitive world of snowboarding. As a former competitive snowboarder herself, Reynolds knows her stuff, and this is an absolute page turner.
And now, I’m looking for your recommendations. Leave a comment or contact me off list. I can’t promise I’ll read every book recommended, but I will check them out. On Goodreads, of course.
