Presentations

Thanks to the New Tecumseth Public Library (NTPL) I’ve added virtual PowerPoint presentations to my repertoire. Both are approximately 45 minutes long, allowing for a 5 minute introduction by the organizer, followed by 15-30 minute Q&A and a FREE PDF Resources handout. Please contact me if you’d like to find out more. Past presentations include the NTPL, Crime Writers of Canada, Sisters in Crime Toronto, Sisters in Crime Canada West, Capital Crime Writers, Barrie Public Library, and the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library.

Title: FINDING YOUR PATH TO PUBLICATION

What: The road to publishing is paved with good intentions…and horror stories of authors who had to learn the hard way. Finding Your Path to Publication explores the ins & outs of five paths to publication:

  • Traditional (Big 5)
  • Independent Publishers (Micro, Small, Medium, Large)
  • Hybrid/Assisted
  • Self-publishing
  • Social publishing (Wattpad, Inkitt, etc.)

Whether you’re an aspiring author, a published author considering alternative options, or merely curious, you’ll learn tips on getting ready, understanding royalties and contracts, advertising & promotion, and more.

Title: SELF-PUBLISHING: THE INS & OUTS OF GOING INDE

What: Understanding business practices, copyright, formatting, retailers, pricing, royalties, promotion, networking and more.
