The Derringer Awards shortlist was announced on April 1st by the Short Mystery Fiction Society. All stories are blind-judged, which makes making the shortlist not just an honor, but validation. I’m so grateful that my short story, THE LAST CHANCE COALITION, made the “Short” category, as did author Julie Hastrup’s story, SKEETERS BAR & GRILL in Larceny & Last Chances. While only members of SMFS can vote during the month of April, if you enjoy short mystery fiction, you won’t go wrong with reading any of these stories. Here’s the shortlist.
I’ve also included a PDF of the anthology shortlist, including buy links and previews. Of course, I hope that Larceny & Last Chances will win, but every one of these collections is worthy of winning. If you’re looking for your next great anthology read, you now know where to look.
Fingers crossed. Ever grateful.
