Far From True (Promise Falls, #2)Far From True by Linwood Barclay
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I love Linwood Barclay’s narrative style and I don’t mind a cliffhanger ending but seriously…I read the entire book, all 450 pages of it, and the main mystery is not only unsolved…it would appear the next book in the series will solve it.
As an author, I’ve been accused of doing the cliffhanger thing in Skeletons in the Attic (though, honestly, I did think I tidied up the loose ends and while some folks got it, others didn’t) but this was just so blatant. Now it might be that I misunderstood. That I should have read book 1 first (based on reviews, that has a cliffhanger ending too) and was expected to need to read book 3 after 2. But I’d read book 4 (Parting Shot) and loved it. I dunno. I think at least it should come with a warning like: Read this trilogy/fourogy in order.
But no one warned me and so I left feeling disappointed. Will I read Twenty-three? Probably. But I’ll have to read book 1 first.
If I have any advice, it’s READ THIS SERIES IN ORDER and expect cliffhanger endings. Because I didn’t, I knocked it down from 5 to 3 stars. Maybe that’s harsh. You’re the reader. You decide.
