All the Missing GirlsAll the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was Megan Miranda’s debut novel for adults, and it certainly has a unique style. Bookended with present day, the author then reports the story of two missing girls in reverse chronological order, i.e. Day 14, Day 13 etc. to Day 1. While I found it compelling, I was often confused as I tried to remember on day 7 what happened on Day 12 and how those events formed a future I’d already read about. Worth reading, but, in my opinion, it doesn’t quite live up to the buzz.

The Safest LiesThe Safest Lies by Megan Miranda
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I’ll preface this by saying I’ve read two of Megan Miranda’s books and really enjoyed them, and so ordered this without realizing it was YA. Since I’m not familiar with what is and isn’t done in YA books, but I found The Safest Lies to be repetitive and often on the verge of boring, with an implausible (and overly rehashed) plot and a contrived ending. Then again, I’m not the target demographic. I wonder, if I was 14, if I’d have been spellbound. Perhaps.
