The Midnight Plan of the Repo Man by W. Bruce Cameron
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
If you’re expecting something along the lines of Cameron’s “A Dog’s Journey” and “A Dog’s Purpose,” you’ll be disappointed. But don’t let that stop you from reading The Midnight Plan of the Repo Man. Set in Northern Michigan, and told from the Repo Man, Ruddy McCann’s, point of view, this is an entertaining read that’s part mystery, part romance, and part suspense. With a dead man’s voice inside Ruddy’s head and his lazy dog, Jake, along for the ride, it’s good guys vs. bad guys and you just know that somehow the good guys are going to win in the end…you just aren’t quite sure how. Thankfully, Cameron manages to achieve a believable and heartwarming ending. 3.5 stars.
