I’m super excited to announce that I’ll be moderating a virtual author chat with Paula McLain, author of The Paris Wife, Circling the Sun, and her latest suspense novel, When the Stars Go Dark. Recently, The Toronto Star picked up the story, a huge thrill for me, since I was born and raised in Toronto. You can read the story here.
And now, here’s the official press release:
On-line Virtual Book Chat with
New York Times Bestselling Author
Paula McLain
Thursday, May 27, 7 pm EDT via Zoom
The Friends of the East Gwillimbury Library are delighted to welcome back Paula McLain who will join us via Zoom to discuss her new novel, When the Stars Go Dark. She joined us four years ago in person and connected with our audience immediately. She has left Ernest Hemingway and his wives behind and has switched genres to explore detective fiction. Anna Hart is a missing persons detective who flees San Francisco in 1993 after tragedy in her own life only to be drawn into the cases of missing girls near Mendocino. The book is based on actual missing persons cases in California.
Paula McLain draws on her own life experience as a foster child in exploring the trauma experienced by these lost girls. This is a new genre for McLain who has been described by the Chicago Tribune as having “a poetic gift for language”.
Our moderator for the event is Judy Penz Sheluk, an experienced crime writer herself and current Chair of the Crime Writers of Canada. Judy’s knowledge of the genre and respect for McLain as a novelist will make the evening truly memorable.
The pricing for the event is the same as before: $10 for the link and $35 for the link and a copy of When the Stars Go Dark. If you order the book you will need to pick it up at the Holland Landing Library. No shipping. We will email those who have ordered the book as soon as we receive it at the branch.
