Readers of my Glass Dolphin Mystery series (The Hanged Man’s Noose; A Hole in One) know that Levon Larroquette is an antiques picker (think of the TV show, American Pickers) and the charismatic ex-husband of protagonist Arabella Carpenter. In book 1 (Noose) we find out exactly why Arabella and Levon became “best friend exes” and in book 2 (A Hole in One), we watch their relationship get a whole lot more complicated.
In the books, Levon is described as being “drop dead gorgeous” with “shaggy brown hair and indigo blue eyes.” Now, as a reader, you may have summoned up your own inspiration for Levon, but in my head, Levon resembles 40-year-old Kris Kristofferson from the 1976 version of A Star is Born (and yes, the remake with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga is amazing…but I will always love the Barbra/Kris version).
So, what do you think? Kris? Levon? Are you seeing it?
The Glass Dolphin Mysteries are available in all eBook formats, trade paperback, and on audiobook on Audible, iTunes and Amazon.
I haven’t seen the movie, but I can certainly imagine a 40-year-old Kris. Very handsome and that voice! After watching the video, I now have to listen to “Sunday Morning Coming Down”. I have seen him in concert. Excellent.
Hi Diane, I’ve seen him in concert too. So handsome. You MUST watch the 1976 movie!
Could it be that his ex, Arabella, still finds him irresistible?
Ha, Grace! Ya think 🙂
I’m halfway through The Hanged Man’s Noose and loving it. Great timing for this blog–now I get to clarify exactly what Levon looks like. He’s a little different what what I had in mind, but I like the Kris Kristofferson image better. Thanks for the post!
Thanks Lynn. It’s not hard to conjure up an image of him when I’m writing. If you’ve never seen the 1976 A Star is Born, you must! It’s so good (music, some of it, a bit dated but…)
